‘EGGLETTES’
I am sure you have all seen the newest way to hard boil eggs, make soft boiled eggs and mini egg shaped omelets … insert eye roll here!
I am seriously thinking all of these ‘quick and easy’ gadgets are not really that quick or easy. After unpacking my little egg shaped cups, washing and drying them I set out to make some eggs. The first thing you need to do is get a pot full of water boiling on the stove, filling so that your little egglettes do not touch the bottom of the pot … keep in mind as the water boils it of course evaporates so you might want to make sure you put a bit of ‘extra’ water in the pot so you do not have to hold your egglette with tongs at the end so his little bottom is not resting on the floor of the pot. Not that this happened to me or anything like that 🙂 Next you will need to prepare each little egglette cup with oil or a cooking spray before adding your eggs. My plan was to try each option … soft boiled, medium boiled, hard boiled and omelette ( some cheddar cheese and a half piece of ham ). I put an egg into each of the 3 egglettes and mixed up my mini omelette for the last one. I decided to start them all at the same time and simply remove them according to their cook times. I went with the shortest cook time from the chart for each type of egg for this experiment. You can check out the step by step instructions and see some final results below.
Instructions
- Start a pot of boiling water.
- Oil/grease egglette cups.
- Add eggs to egglette cups
- Boiling egglettes
- My little egglette friends waiting in line after being cooked.
- Soft boiled … 8 minutes
- Medium boiled … 11 minutes
- Hard boiled … 13 minutes
- Omelette … 13 minutes
Notes
- The eggs do not simply fall from the egglette cups, you will need to run a spoon around the inside of the cup to help them along.
- The cups are dishwasher safe but I did need to hand wash 2 of them after their trip through the dishwasher.
- Is this easier or faster then the old school way … its kind of like a pet rock, I think these will have their 15 minutes of fame and then we will find them in the bottom of a drawer or back of a cabinet with other quick fix kitchen gadgets.
